The Complete, Unrevised History Of American Princes

No complete, unrevised history of American Princes, premiere indie rock band, hailing from Little Rock, AR, would be complete without mention of a few major facts. First, they formed in 2003 when David Slade, then-bassist John Beachboard, and Matthew Quin, drummer, relocated from New York City to Arkansas. There, they met Collins Kilgore, a guitarist, and then put out their first recording, via Max Recordings, entitled We Are the People. Next came a national tour and another album, entitled Little Spaces. Then, former bassist of Sugar and the Raw Luke Hunsicker signed up, and they all went on tour to promote this second recording, in 2004.
The next year, the group contracted with Yep Roc Records and produced with Alan Weatherhead, their album Less and Less. After this time, the band has appeared with other artists like John Doe, Lucero, Spoon, The Big Star, and The Flaming Lips, just to name a few.
In 2006 Will Boyd signed on as a guitarist, and in 2007, the group started work in New York, on another relase, with former Wu Tang Clan producer Chuck Brody. The artists have received accolades for Less and Less and their 2008 release Other People.
After living to see all this, sadly, Luke Hunsicker passed away from brain cancer in summer 2010. The band now has an American Princes EP out just recently, and some have made mention of the fact, that at this time, predictably, they’re still recouping from the loss of Hunsicker.
Several interesting facts stand out about this band. One is, oddly enough, they left a large city for a smaller community, to make their music and their name. Also, many critics believe the music of the American Princes to be both powerful and subtle, all brought together by amazing lyrics, instrument work, and vocals.
