Anyone who has followed the American Princes during their meteoric climb through the indie rock scene is sure to feel an odd mix of both joy and sorrow when they fire up this self-titled EP.
Let’s get the sorrow out of the way. As many of you know, Luke Hunsicker, the bass player, passed away after a two-year battle with brain cancer. His death would go on to precipitate the eventual breakup of the band. There’s an odd sense of melancholy and nostalgia when you hear these tracks. It’s also what makes this little EP one of their strongest works.
Now let’s talk about why you’ll love it. If you’re an American Princes fan and you’ve followed their work from the beginning then you can’t help but fall in love with this five-song collection. Featuring full-length tracks with written material from all three members, these tracks represent everything you came to love about this cherished indie rock band.
